Association membership
The Association of Insurance Services Consumers is open to everyone who shares its goals: protecting consumers' interests, improving the quality and accessibility of insurance services and developing insurance culture in Kazakhstan.
Who can join
- Insurance companies that are ready to work to client-focused standards.
- Insurance intermediaries: brokers and agents.
- Specialists: insurance consultants, surveyors, valuers, underwriters, lawyers and other professionals working in insurance.
- Organisations that share the goal of protecting consumer rights: public associations, service and educational organisations.
The association has full and associate members. The specific status is determined when the application is reviewed.
What membership means
- taking part in developing consumer service standards and in the work of the committees;
- discussing recurring market problems and proposals to improve practice and legislation;
- access to the association's summarised findings on the problems clients face;
- a commitment to comply with the association's Code of Ethics and the principles of fair treatment of consumers.
What membership does not give
This is a fundamental rule of the association:
- membership has no influence on ratings, scores or a participant's position in the registry;
- a member cannot hide, delete or change a review about itself: reviews are moderated under the same rules as for everyone else;
- membership is not accreditation: accreditation is a separate procedure with its own criteria;
- membership is not a state licence and does not confirm the right to carry out insurance activities;
- consumers' requests about members are handled in exactly the same way as requests about any other market participant.
A membership mark may be displayed on the website so that visitors can see a participant's link with the association. The mark is for information only and is not a recommendation.
How to apply
- Fill in the Membership application form in the Join section of the website (the /join/membership page).
- Provide information about your organisation, or about yourself as a specialist, your field of activity and a contact person.
- Briefly describe why you want to join and which areas of work you are ready to take part in.
- Once submitted, the application is registered, and a member of the association's staff will contact you to clarify the details.
How applications are reviewed
Membership is never granted automatically. Applications are reviewed by the Membership Committee, which checks the information about the applicant and their readiness to comply with the Code of Ethics and share the association's goals. The applicant is then informed of the decision. The association may refuse admission if the applicant's activities run counter to consumers' interests.
Ending membership
A member may leave the association at its own request. Membership may also be terminated by decision of the association in the event of a serious or systematic breach of the Code of Ethics or of the principles of treating consumers fairly.
